Ok, I know it’s been a while since I’ve actually posted on this thing. There’s a good reason though.

We didn’t want to use Wordpress Multi User here because we only wanted one blog. We also wanted a static front page. So I actually put two installs of regular Wordpress on this site and used Feed Wordpress to link the two installs together, it was a process that my colleague Jason Preston rightfully called “Byzantine.”

Well, now with WP 2.1, it’s easy to create a static front page with just ONE install of Wordpress. Hooray!

Another big issue with this blog is that editorially, it overlaps significantly with Blog Business Summit. Both sites are meant to be places where we and our readers can explore/discuss relevant issues surrounding business blogging. I’ll probably spend more time here discussing social media and business in a larger context, like my post today about social networks that I wrote on BBS today.

First and foremost, welcome to the Parnassus Ventures blog! A lot of work went into getting this blog ready for launch and we’re very happy with it. There may be a few messes here and there as we finish up housecleaning, but by and large what you see is what you get.

Right now, the people of Parnassus Ventures are incredibly busy getting ready for our flagship event: the Blog Business Summit. But that doesn’t mean we don’t have time for a few really interesting consulting projects. Currently in the works are:

An RSS monitoring project for an up and coming art supplies manufacturer.

The launch of Big Business Jet our blog about business jet ownership which is sponsored by Greenpoint Technologies.

A blogger qualification effort.

We’ve also been busy figuring out what we’re going to blog about here. In the past, we’ve used the Blog Business Summit blog to talk about general topics of interest to the business community when it comes to the blogosphere. Soon, we’ll be using this blog to talk more about those topics, while the Blog Business Summit blog will be more about the conference. If you like Blog Business Summit, chances are you’ll also enjoy what we have to say here at Parnassus.
